ANXIETY and STRESS – - A Chinese herbal prescription
As you know, anxiety is a complicated condition brought on by various problems of life. It would be nice if I could write a prescription to make all your problems go away. However, you know that I don’t have that kind of power, especially in financial matters, personal relationships, job security, or business dealings.
Nevertheless, I can help you reduce the physical stress that anxiety brings. Anxiety throws your body out of balance. As a result, various physical problems tend to surface and resurface, such as indigestion, overeating, sleep difficulty, migraines, skin rash, burst of temper, energy drain, etc.
The prescription should help your body achieve the balance that has been lost. How? Balance is a delicate thing. You can only restore it by gently nourishing the major organs back to their normal conditions. When they become stronger, they will be able to find their own way to balance without you having to tell them how. As a result, you will feel much better overall. The Chinese approach to anxiety is to nourish, moisten, and soothe. The word is 潤 , pronounced as “ren”, for which I cannot find an English word similar in meaning.
The prescription should basically be a combination of gentle nourishing for all major organs and the Yin.
1) Liver
Bai Shao 白 芍
Gou Qi Zi 枸 杞 子
2) Lungs
Bai He 百 合
Jie Gen 桔 梗
3) Heart
Zao Ren 棗 仁
Wu Wei Zi 五 味 子
4) Stomach
Bai Zhu 白 朮
Dang Shen 党 參
5) Kidneys
Qian Shi 芡 實
Jin Qian Cao 金 錢 草
6) The Yin
Mai Men Dong 麥 門 冬
Fu Ling 伏 苓
Sheng Di Huang 生 地 黃
A combination of 13 herbs are recommended.
One must be careful not to prescribe strong herbs for fast results. The consequence may be negative. When stronger herbs are used, they generate heat inside the body. Excess heat may make the anxiety worse.
Drink one cup (8 oz) of herb tea a day, preferably in the morning to allow time for dissipation of excess heat and the balancing to work.
This is just one formula with countless variations depending on:
* Your changing condition.
* How weak is your body and where is the weakness.
* How sensitive is your body to the strengthening herbs.

The Comptroller General of the United States proclaims that our current standard of living is unsustainable unless drastic action is taken. He warns that funding shortfalls for the Medicare program is five times worse than Social Security, and it will take $8 TRILLION to pay for what is promised today to beneficiaries, of which we have ZERO!
This unrealistic “promise” is fiscally irresponsible and is mortgaging the futures of our children and grandchildren.

ADHD natural remedy – Herbal remedy for ADHD – ADHD natural treatment
Over the years many attempts have been made to find natural therapies for ADHD in order to avoid the use of stimulants such as Ritalin. Very little research has been done in this area since the medical profession has focused their attention almost exclusively on the use of stimulant drugs. It does seem probable that some nutrients or herbal remedies could eventually be found to be helpful. Some herbal remedies used in ADHD include ginkgo biloba and St. John’s wort. Here’s a research abstract on ADHD herbal remedy.
Effect of the herbal extract combination Panax quinquefolium and Ginkgo biloba on attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder: a pilot study.
J Psychiatry Neurosci. 2001 May;26(3):221-8. Oceanside Functional Medicine Research Institute, Nanaimo, BC.
A combination herbal product containing American ginseng extract, Panax quinquefolium, (200 mg) and Ginkgo biloba extract (50 mg) (AD-FX; CV Technologies, Edmonton, Alta.) was tested for its ability to improve the symptoms of ADHD. AD-FX capsules were taken twice a day on an empty stomach for 4 weeks. Patients were instructed not to change any other medications during the study. After 2 weeks of the ADHD herbal remedy treatment, the proportion of the subjects exhibiting improvement ranged from 31% for the anxious-shy attribute to 67% for the psychosomatic attribute. After 4 weeks of treatment, the proportion of subjects exhibiting improvement ranged from 44% for the social problems attribute to 74% for the Conners’ ADHD index and the DSM-IV hyperactive-impulsive attribute. Five (14%) of 36 subjects reported adverse events, only 2 of which were considered related to the study medication. These preliminary results suggest AD-FX treatment may improve symptoms of ADHD and should encourage further research on the use of ginseng and Ginkgo biloba extracts to treat ADHD symptoms.
Comments: It may be preferable at first to just try one herb for a few weeks before adding another one. The combination of herbal remedy with pharmaceutical medication may be unpredictable. We suggest using the herbal remedy by itself, not in combination with ADHD drugs.

Knee Joint Pain *
Causes of Inflammation *
Alkaline Foods in a Joint Inflammation Diet *
Muscle and Joint Pain *
Muscle Inflammation *
Alkaline Diet Foods *
Many of you have expressed suffering from chronic pain: joints, headaches, backaches, feet problems
What would I do? ALKALIZE! What’s the easiest way?
Drink a green juice or 2 every day!
You can only eat so many heads of lettuce, & nibble on so many bunches of cilantro a day…
If you are in pain or are inflamed, alkalization is key!
Fruit energizes the cells; green juices alkalize the tissues.
This won’t happen overnight! You must be vigilant & patient.
Ideally, partner or team up with others who can support you & vice versa.
e.g., create a Mom & Daughter, or Father & Son GREEN JUICE TEAM!
One of you might have more skills in one area than the other,
but the other has skills that the other one doesn’t have!
For example, with Krista & I, it’s always been my role to make all the food for us, as it just comes naturally to me. As Krista has a natural inclination toward anything technological, she effortlessly enjoys taking care of that department for us. (btw, she does vaguely remember preparing some food for me once or twice here and there, but as she can’t even remember what it was that she might have made, she forgives me for not remembering!) However, she was just telling me earlier today about how she feels she now understands how to make FROM SCRATCH, any signature “Dan” raw food juice, smoothie, salad, dip, dressing or treat, just from watching the videos, even though she hasn’t actually done it yet!
OK, so back to the PAIN! …you could be experiencing it anywhere throughout your body… your feet (gout), your knees, hips, elbows and/or shoulders, or maybe you suffer from headaches, stomach aches and/or acid reflux. No matter where it is: Alkalize! Drink 1-2 green juices a day, plus enjoy whole fruits and simple leafy green salads with low-fat dressings.
Resistance from Others:
Some of you may be experiencing this from others: Your friends may give you a rough time for eating so healthily, or they may be lightly ‘teasing you’ at work (Krista often came home from her old corporate job saying that her colleagues had yet again tried to feed her a cheeseburger!). It of course also doesn’t help that many of your friends, family & peers won’t understand the detoxification symptoms, and so will instead point out that you must be ’sick’ because “you aren’t getting enough protein” or what not.
Instead of meeting them w/ resistance and getting defensive, please try and bite your tongue! Accept that they just won’t ‘get it,’ at this time, no matter what you say, so don’t even start to say anything. As I described in another recent video, simply concentrate on you being a living example of health. When you come out of the initial more intense detox phase you might experience, with you losing X many pounds within just a few weeks, those who are ready to hear you, will come seek you out and ask you questions. Today, those people might still be in the ‘you need to eat a cheeseburger or you are going to die mindset,’ probably for no other reason than to justify their own unhealthy habits. That’s right, they could just be plain ol’ jealous of you right now, so want to subconsciously sabotage your healthy efforts. But don’t take any of that personally! And hopefully neither will they.
Realize that YOU are the one who is SANE, as you actually take care of yourself! You are feeding & nourishing your cells w/ raw living foods from Mother Nature. Whereas they are standing across the room staring at you w/ a smirk on their face as they drink their Venti Starbucks Coffee, as they oddly enough truly believe that YOU might as well be an alien for consuming something so strange as a green juice! …and not— oh my goodness— a coffee, along w/ bacon & eggs!
NEWS FLASH: Somehow this world has everything backwards! If anyone really took the time to pause and reflect for a few moments between what a SAD american diet really IS: e.g., coffee / donut / pastry / eggs / bacon / sausage / pancakes / and/or cereal & milk breakfast, vs. fruits, vegetables, smoothies and juices, then, um…is it not obvious yet??
Just Remember:
~ Take care of yourself!
~ Focus on fruits and vegetables
~ Don’t take any negativity expressed by anyone else personally
~ Continue on the path, get support from this community here, and/or from Krista, me and others on Facebook
~ Remember to exercise
~ Try to get to bed around 10PM
(Krista doesn’t have to follow this rule, haha)
~ Take responsibility to move in a direction of health, because you love and care for yourself!
~ Peace & Love is the way…
Love, Dan

Posted by admin on Sep 4, 2009
Contributed by: (http://www.india-herbs.com):
Co-Founder of India Herbs explains the Science of Ayurveda.
Overview
Ayurvedic Medicine is also called Ayurveda. It is a system of medicine that originated in India several thousand years ago. The term Ayurveda combines two Sanskrit words: ayur, which means life, and veda, which means science or knowledge. Ayurveda means “the science of life.”
Ayurveda is a whole medical system which integrates and balances the body, mind, and spirit (thus, it is considered “holistic”). This balance is necessary for contentment and good health. Ayurveda also proposes treatments for specific health problems. A primary aim of Ayurvedic medicine is to cleanse the body of substances that can cause disease. This helps re-establish the harmony and balance necessary for optimal health.
Ayurveda has long been the main system of health care in India. About 70 percent of India’s population lives in rural areas; about two-thirds of rural people use Ayurveda and medicinal plants to meet their primary health care needs. In addition, most major cities have an Ayurvedic college and hospital. There are 587,536 registered traditional medical practitioners, 2,860 hospitals providing Ayurvedic treatment, and 22,100 dispensaries for traditional medicine in India. This allows over 500 million people in India to rely solely on Ayurveda today.
Ayurveda and variations of it have also been practiced for centuries in Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Tibet. The professional practice of Ayurveda in the United States began to grow and became more visible in the late 20th century.
Professional Accreditation
Practitioners of Ayurveda have various types of training. Some are trained in the Western medical tradition (such as medical or nursing school) and then study Ayurveda. Others may have training in naturopathic medicine, a whole medical system, either before or after their Ayurvedic training. Many study in India, where there are more than 150 undergraduate and more than 30 postgraduate colleges for Ayurveda. This training can take up to 5 years.
Reliance on Herbs
According to World Health Organization report, over 80% of the world population relies on plant-based traditional medicine for their primary healthcare needs.
In Ayurveda, the distinction between food and medicine is not as clear as in Western medicine. Food and diet are important components of Ayurvedic practice, and so there is a heavy reliance on treatments based on herbs and plants, oils (such as sesame oil), common spices (such as turmeric), and other naturally occurring substances.
Currently, some 5,000 products are included in the “pharmacy” of Ayurvedic treatments. Historically, plant compounds have been grouped into categories according to their effects. For example, some compounds are thought to heal, promote vitality, or relieve pain. The compounds are described in many texts prepared through national medical agencies in India. The following are examples of commonly used herbs:
• The spice turmeric has been used for various diseases and conditions, including rheumatoid arthritis, Alzheimer’s disease, and wound healing.
• An extract from the resin from a tropical shrub (Commiphora mukul, or guggul) has been used for a variety of illnesses. In recent years, there has been research interest in its use to lower cholesterol.
• The essential oil extracted from Holy Basil is used as counteract depression and mental stress.
India has 16 agro-climatic zones, 45,000 different plant species, and 15,000 medicinal plants. The Indian Systems of Medicine have identified 1,500 medicinal plants, of which 500 species are mostly used in the preparation of drugs. These medicinal plants contribute to 80% of the raw materials used in the preparation of Ayurvedic Medicine.
Regulatory Situation
Ayurveda and Yoga are recognized by the Government of India. The first step in granting this recognition was the creation of the Central Council of Indian Medicine Act of 1970. The main mandates of the Central Council are as follows:
• to standardize training by prescribing minimum standards of education in traditional medicine, although not all traditional practitioners and homeopaths need to be institutionally trained to practice;
• to advise the central Government in matters relating to recognition / withdrawal of medical qualifications in traditional medicine in India;
• to maintain the central register of Indian medicine, revise the register from time to time, prescribe standards of professional conduct and etiquette, and develop a code of ethics to be observed by practitioners of traditional medicine in India. All traditional medicine practitioners and homeopaths must be registered to practice.
The Indian Government seeks the active and positive use of traditional medicine in national health programmes, family welfare programmes, and primary health care.
