working in a job that works with natural health and the digestive system… Anyone a Naturopath?
Posted by admin on Mar 8, 2010
Hey i graduated from school about a year ago and i do not know where to start to go to post secondary school. I know right now i hate my jobs… i cannot work another 9-5 job that i hate 5 days a week. luckily i live with my parents still and so money will not be a issue for living expense and i will get a student loan for school. But i’ve really been thinking about what i want to do and I’m thinking the one thing I’m insanely interested in is the digestive system and how it heals everything. I read book after book on it. But then I’m finding that i can’t really find a job in just that…. i was thinking about becoming a Naturopath but school is so expensive and one day i want to raise a family and only work 2-3 days a week so i don’t think that would be ideal to go to school for 8 years an rack up that much in student loans.
So what I’m wondering is…. does anybody know of any jobs that could be similar to this field but not as qualified and where do i even get started? I’ve been looking online for schools but I’m so confused. I live in the BC, Canada.
Also… a natural health consultant i’ve been looking into becoming. Do they really have a stable job out there in the world today?
also i would be extremly interested in woman’s studies. Maybe becoming a natural midwife but the problem is i don’t want to do it through government funded medical school i don’t believe in the drugs at all or the way they treat giving birth as a illness not a natural process
Ha. I don’t want answers from anyone who is not in the natural health field
Because you guys are totally ignorant to what you have been learning all your lives.. I am not lazy and i have been raised in natural health all my life. working with the Ph balance of the body is my main thing but i have just recently got interested in the digestive system.
P.s naturapath are not quacks they do the exact same school as a doctor! they just don’t use cover ups (drugs) to fix things they work with the balance of the body and let the body fix itself!
and ……Healthy Skeptic.
you really honestly have no idea what your talking about.
Oh my god… You are rediculous. Let me re-write your question using different, but equal wording. Maybe you will see how rediculous this is.
You: "I’m incredibly lazy. I hate having to actually go to a job during normal work hours on a regular basis. I am a full grown adult that has graduated from college, but I still live at home and rely on my hard working, aging parents. I just want a job that pays well, and allows me to work about half as much as most people. This job must align itself with my false notions, conspiracy theories, etc. I am willing to allow the government to "fund me" with a student loan, but I certainly don’t want to go to a legitimate academic institution because I don’t trust government funded institutions. I read a book once that was written by some quack about the digestive system. Since I don’t know much about the human body (or science in general), the book was able to fool me into believing everything it said."
Sorry if that is harsh, but its true. Can you provide some specific examples of what makes you think that mainstream medicine "treats giving birth as a illness, not a natural process". That statement is just wrong…and stupid.

I was in the same position as yourself with 3 children and living in a small town. I studied Rife frequencies and it was a very natural way of treating patients. I went back to school and did human science by correspondence school open polytech. It was really good hard work and challenging but I now work from home and getting more patients all the time and loving meeting so many interesting people.More doctors are becoming natural in their approach and you build good relationships with everyone.I didn’t want to be outside the home much with a young family but wanted to contribute to the wider community and for me this is the perfect way.

Omg where did all the loans spam come from?
Anyway, sorry about the first answer.I dont think your lazy at all and i dont think any of us are position to judge another. There might be some people that are lazy "moochers" that live with their parents & mooch off them but there are others that live with their parent & are very hardworking & help their parents whether financially or around the house.
As from European background,in our background most people live at home until they are married but parents help the children & the children help the parents financially-there is no laziness involved.
Also its not right to judge a person for wishing to work a few days a week, some women(or men) choose to not work outside of home at all but be stay at home mums-why should they be called lazy for that? They work just as hard so that first answer you received was very presumptious & unkind.
One option you might consider if your interested in the Digestive System is studying Traditional Chinese Medicine(herbal) because with TCM the focus is very much on G.I & it recognises that with a large range of disorders that the Gut can be the primary cause or have secondary involvement.
So perhaps you could specialise in all the G.I disorders/symptoms like gastroenteritis, gastritis, ulcers, celiacs, crohns, acid or bile reflux, malabsorption, constipation/diarrhea,Ulcerative Colitis etc & also on the disorders that arnt "strictly" classed G.I disorders but that can come about due to poor digestive function eg:anemia, vitamin deficiencies.
You would need to learn all the terms of TCM first because it uses different terms (eg:Spleen doesnt mean spleen organ but means the function of the intestines plus some of the immune system) & with your reading of Conventional Medicine books on the Intestinal System you could have quite comprehensive knowledge & be able to help lots of people.
Here are some links with some examples of books on this area so you can see if that is something that interests you or not.
Take care

There are some issues that you have completely wrong, that you’ll need to address before you’ve got a hope at a proper career.
Silly things like diet curing all illness, not believing in drugs, ‘natural’ midwifery etc, all very immature, scientifically wrong and redundant beliefs that belong on some crazy ‘conspiracy theory’ website rather than the real world.
Unless you sort out fact from fantasy you’re going to struggle at whatever you attempt to do.
If you’re truely dedicated to helping others then you need to consider reputable, proven occupations that save lives. There’s an industry out there selling scam treatments such as homeopathy, aromatherapy etc to a gullible public. Have some morals and don’t get sucked into this shameful and frequently damaging charade.

If all these things are so "natural", why would anyone need to study how to do them so in depth? Wouldn’t they just come naturally?
If you want to help people get a legitimate degree from an accredited university.
If you want to make money, you’re either going to have to get a real job or learn to become one heck of a con-artist.
Not to mention BC is in the middle of not exactly a known from it’s urban sprawl. Chances are that anyone living a rural area like that has all the folk remedies they need passed down through their family. If someone in that area is going to need medical help, it’s going to need to be legitimate.
