Teacup Chihuahua Dog food?

Posted by admin on Mar 11, 2010

he is 4 months old and when i got him he was on Iams puppy food and recently he keeps spitting it out. so i went today and got him Nutro Natural health lamb and rice puppy formula. Is this a good dog food to be feeding him? He eats it and seems to like it better but i have another dog and i feed him pedigree and my chihiuhua seems to wanna eat a little of his food to. But as of now i have a whole bag of Iams and Nutro natural health and he has been eating the nutro. Is this the right thing to be doing or have him on?

Look for a food without any corn, wheat, soy, or by products that lists a meat as the first ingredient.

Neither Iams nor Nutro is a very good food. Blue Buffalo is excellent.

There is no such thing as a teacup dog. They are basically runts, and are generally unhealthy and don’t live as long as their regular sized littermates. Celebs like Paris Hilton made them popular, and begun the mass production of unhealthy, stunted animals.

No. Nutro is not good. I feed my dogs either Taste of the Wild or Solid Gold Indigo Moon, both are grain-free. Get a food that is grain and byproduct free, Like Wellness core, Evo, or Canidae Grain-Free. BTW, it is good to feed a high-quality food because any dog sold as a ‘teacup’ is known to have health problems in life

They are both horrible foods. I normally don’t judge food, but that is the worst on the market. Secondly, you should know there is no such thing as a "teacup" dog. That is just a label backyard breeders stick on badly bred runts. He will most likely have health problems later on and die early, just preparing you for what will come. :)

There is no difference between a Teacup chihuahua and a regular. :)
I recommend Kibbles ‘n Bits for small dogs. My two picky chis love it and they are healthy.

Dogs are dogs. The quality and size of the kibble are what you should be looking for. If you’ve seen it in a commercial, forget it (other than Blue recently). I feed my Chihuahuas EVO Red Meat Small Bites. Don’t skimp on food. They don’t eat that much so you can go all out and get the best brands. A small bag will last you a month or more. Go online and find where they sell it in your area.

BTW. Forget that teacup nonsense. There are 2 types of Chihuahuas Long coat and short coat. That’s it. You should hope yours is not under-sized. That’ll be a lot of health issues down the road and thousands of dollars in medical bills. Thank your back-yard-breeder for that.

Please NEVER say Teacup again, it’s insulting to a Chihuahua.

I feed all 4 of mine Chicken Soup For The Dog Lover’s Soul.

I recommend royal canin mini chihuahua dog food. This is a special dog food made specifically for the chihuahua breed:
