Do you know of any natural/herbal remedies for anxiety?

Posted by admin on Dec 23, 2009

I was prescribed Effexor XR 75mg and took the product for six months. The medicine did control my anxiety, however it caused me to have no energy and gain forty pounds. So if anyone has tried a natural product please share the details with me!

Try over-the-counter Sam-E. Be careful if you are on the pill while using it – i think it has St. Johns Wort in it which can interact with the pill making it ineffective. Also, try some yoga – worked wonders for me

Which is the best natural medicine for dandruff?

Posted by admin on Dec 19, 2009

I am 20/Male and had used several costly shampoos for curing my dandruff but it returns after seizing it and due to those chemical shampoos my hairs are getting grey. Please suggest me some herbal/natural shampoo or medicine to cure my dandruff.

Dear Aditya,
Like you many many people do not know the scientific fact that dandruff is not a skin disease but a deficiency of selenium a vital mineral which is anti ageing and anti wrinkle too, it binds tissues in a healthy way so that from fifth layer of you skin remain healthy and when it mature from 5th to first dead layer remains healthy.
The greatest source of selenium is onion and the greatest loss of selenium & zinc is in semen. So, gentlemen all modern doctors give you go ahead to masturbate as much as you can. I wish to ask them are they scientists or have they got their semen tested that what they lost, no. Then why they ask you for 5-7 days abstinence before you go for semen analyses test. Next time you visit your doctor you have a right to ask every question pertaining to your health and you have a right to know true scientific facts.

1. Slow frequency of masturbation
2. Increase intake of onions (even after cooking onion loses vitamin c but not minerals)
3. Increase intake of vitamin c i.e. amla as it help us to absorb and retain selenium.
4. Dandruff is axacty a 28 days process if you can increase intake of zinc, selenium, vitamin c and take care of your scalp you will be cured forever unless you do not cause deficiency again.
5. Every day grate one average size onion (if you can find white onion, it is pure white like milk), strain and take out juice, mix it with shikakai powder, hibiscuss leaves and apply as paste (as you apply henna) then wash with normal warm water.
6. Apply Jatyadi tail thrice a week and wash with ritha (soap nut) powder mixed in water.
You will find eextremelygood quality, silky, smooth hair in just one month.
I hope you will believe me.

I am looking for a reputable Natural & Herbal medicine company in the US, Mexico or Canada. Any suggestions?

Posted by admin on Dec 15, 2009

Most herbal supplement companies are owned by massive pharmaceutical conglomerates that use slick marketing and ad campaigns to push their wares on an unsuspecting public: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,525643,00.html?sPage=fnc/health/alternative

It’s very difficult to find any smaller scale companies, especially ones who can afford the technology to test their products and ensure they’re not contaminated.

what herbal products or natural plants are best for reducing high uric acid level?

Posted by admin on Dec 3, 2009

my UA level reaches to 11.75. As of now I have not been experiencing gout but i want to reduce my uric acid level by taking or eating natural foods instead of medicine. What foods are really best for this? Thank you .

Firstly when you feel a flare up do the R.I.C.E. technique

Steer clear of Aspirin, it makes things worse. Use ibuprofen.

Cherries contain compounds that neutralise uric acid in the blood, & are also anti inflamitry. You’ll need to eat aprox 20 cherries to get the same pain reliving effect as one aspirin.

Daily doses of fish oil or flax seed oil can ease the inflamation in the joints. (It must be fish oil, not cod liver oil as this contains too much vitamin A & D.)

Another thing is ‘Bromelain’, an enzyme found in pineapple. to achieve a theraputic effect a product must contain 2000MCUs (milk clotting units)per gram. Check the labels before you buy. The usual dosage is 500mg three times a day between meals.

Fresh celery, or tablets containing ‘celery seed extract’ seem to help eliminate uric acid. the usual dose is 2 to 4 tablets a day.

Nettle leaf also helps to lower uric acid levels. Experts recomend 300 to 600mg of freeze-dried extract a day.
Don’t use nettle for more than three months at a time.
AVOID nettle in tincture form, it contains alcohol which will agrivate gout!

And of course drink lots of water, but that go’s without saying.

Avoid: meat gravey, offal, sweetbreads, shellfish, anchovies, sardines, herring, game, fried foods, refined carbs eg:white flour, oatmeal, yeast containg foods eg:baked goods, also certain vegetables:peas, beans, spinach, and cauliflower.

what natural herbal remedies can be used for menapausal cancer patient?

Posted by admin on Nov 19, 2009

the menapause was brought on by the cancer,is there a safe herbal treatment normal medicines cannot be used due to post cancer?

I would recommend you go to see a homeopathic doctor who can give you some specific remedies tailored to the person. A good one that I know of is Sepia 30CH…but you should see a homeopath. Homeopathic remedies are the SAFEST medicines in the whole world. They do not interact with any medications or treatments and cause absolutely no side effects. They work 100% of the time if the remedy matches the symptom. Try them out! Its the only 100% safe alternative. Some herbs you can use are black cohosh, sage extract, Evening Primrose oil or Dong Quai…but if the person is on medications, then I wouldnt use herbs. The evening primrose might be ok because its a oil from a flower. Alot of menopause symptoms show themselves because our livers are so overtaxed that they cant filter our hormones properly. A simple safe way to help out your liver is to take the juice of an organic lemon in a cup of warm water every morning as a little mini safe liver cleanser. That can help a bit too. But please seek out a natural practitioner, you can ask your local health food store because they normally have a list of names of good ones that they come accorss. Good luck!

Is it possible to be allergic to Chinese herbal medicine?

Posted by admin on Nov 15, 2009

i went to my doctor the other day feeling rather sick and he told me i was either suffering from high anxiety or some kind of virus. when i came home i took one of my mothers herbal anxiety pills supposed to be 100% natural, i have never had an allergic reaction to anything before but this made me very nauseous and more anxious then before. could it be an allergic reaction?

You can have an allergic reaction to anything you put in you, or on you. And it doesn’t really need to be something your allergic to, just sensitive. Before the doctor got my medicine right for my Lupus I had two very bad reactions. With medicine from the pharmacist he can give you a list of what the reactions could be. I had them very bad on one medicine. But every reaction is different with each one that I took. With herbs look up what the side effects could be. Just because is says all natural does not mean that it can’t hurt you. Herbs have been used for medicine for years. You have to be careful what you take, and do not add more than one at a time in case you have a reaction. Then you will know what caused it.

I also have interest in plants and what they are and what they are used for. Im lost because i dont know whta to major or minor in…

Help Help Help……l

You have so many options to chose from.

The study of Herbalism will prepare you to learn how to prepare and use Herbal Medicine. Contrary to what another person answered, you can take College programs in Herbalism. There are many different types of Herbalism programs out there, from basic correspondence courses that give you the basic tools and understanding to help yourself and family, to full time 4+ years of in school studies to become a professional Medical Herbalist.

Phytotherapy is the study of the use of extracts from natural origin as medicines of health-promoting agents. Its less hands on with the plants, and deals more with the extracts.

Pharmacognosy is the study of medicines derived from natural sources. With this course of study, you would be looking more in depth into specific compounds within plants that are used to make medicines.

Ethnopharmacology is the scientific study correlating ethnic groups, their health, and how it relates to their physical habits and methodology in creating and using medicines. This would give you a good background into the different plants that are traditionally used in different parts of the world by different ethnic groups, which will prepare you for your world travels.

Ethnobotany is the study of the relationship between people and plants, sort of like combining Anthropology and Botany and Social Science. This will not only include medicinal uses, but use in ritual, food, divination, textiles, currency, and social life. As an Ethnobotanist, you would have many opportunities to travel as part of your work.

I think a study of Botany would give you an excellent foundation from which to build on. From there, you can branch out into the area of herbal medicine that most appeals to you, and provides you with the employment opportunities and income range you prefer.

Are there any herbal/natural medicines/remedies for bipolar depression?

Posted by admin on Nov 6, 2009

I’ve heard that exercise is supposed to work, which I’ve tried. It works for a couple of hours max. after a good workout and then I hit rock bottom again. Also I don’t have any clues how to control the "highs". It’s got to the point where I can’t just let it go on because I can tell it’s getting worse, especially the depression side of it.
I know that St. John’s Wort is used for depression, but I read somewhere that it shouldn’t be used for bipolar depression.
Although I do want to lose some weight, my main aims in working out was to try and balance my moods. I’m ok with losing weight, I need help with something to balance my moods.
I have changed my diet dramatically making sure I get a well balanced diet and I’ve been exercising. I’ve tested this method for almost 10 months and it’s only just got worse.

Ok, please ignore the bottom answer. It looks like a spammer.
Now, having said that, you really need to talk to a professional. Bipolar disorder can be mitigated (lessened) but your healthcare professional needs to take the reigns of your treatment overall. Exercise can help but it is not the only part of the solution. You need to watch your diet, but that is a given. St. John’s Wort works differently for different people. It is not a solution for all type of depression and I have not heard anything about it helping bipolar disorder. One thing you can do is help your doctor by telling him or her when you tend to experience the mania. Has it been stressed induced lately? Meditate. Yoga and meditation can help refocus in between episodes. I do that for my add. Now, course, they are different but they do have similarities also. So, before you go to your "over the counter herbalistic juxtaposed place," make sure that you consult with a physician/psychiatrist and say that you definitely would prefer some more homeopathic avenues. Note that even with homeopathic assistance, you may still require some medication or at least dr’s assistance
