What is a good natural herb for increasing sexual stamina?

Posted by admin on Feb 5, 2010

I have been having problems staying up and pleasing my wife!

We love each other very much, but it’s so frustrating to the both of us when she can’t get fulfilled!

I looked at some products at my local Health Foods store today. I saw "Yohimbe", Horny Goat Weed, and some other product in pill form!

What should I buy to solve my issue!

Thanks in advance!

There is plenty of remedies to help with low sexual stamina, but out of the lot I did find the Himalayan Goji berries (lycium barbarum) to be the best. Warning – not the wolfberry kind.

They are a rich source of both selenium and germanium and have hence been used in a number of clinical trials involving cancer patients. When given to patients undergoing chemotherapy, the berries conferred significant protection for the liver. In Oriental medicine, they are said to correct chi deficiency, meaning that people with low energy, insomnia, heart palpitations, and even anxiety are more comfortable after consuming goji berries. The berries have 18 amino acids (higher than bee pollen) and 21 trace minerals, linoleic acid, and more beta carotene than carrots. Take a full cup every day and wait for the results.
It is slightly long waiting as the first signs of improvement do come after about three months.

Are there any natural pain killers for nerve pain?

Posted by admin on Feb 1, 2010

I have severe nerve pain caused by a brain herniation at the base of my skull that I am told may be too risky to operate on due to its exact location and other issues with my health. These nerve pains come in ‘episodes,’ short periods of time (short meaning as little as ten minutes) or longer periods of time (the longest period of time was a full week when I could barely get up out of bed and was unable to lift anything or really move much at all (I couldn’t even eat…I had to drink very slowly through a straw because my throat hurt so much that it would close up as I swallowed and choke me if I was not very careful). I am on Vicodin and am very worried that I may become addicted to it, as it is very addictive and lately I am finding myself using the Vicodin every day at least once (this last weekend, I had to take five of the pills within a three day period just to be able to function on a semi-normality. I have also been on Oxycodone in the past, but was switched to Vicodin as it is not as addictive, though still very addictive.

I would like to cut back on the amount of vicodin I use as much as possible, but if I don’t take the Vicodin, then I cannot function enough to do anything at all, really. Are there any natural herbs or alternative medicines or therapies that might help me? I have had physical therapy in the past, and it did not help at all, even making the pain worse on some days…I am just so worried that I am becoming addicted to Vicodin.

My symptoms include numbing of the hands and feet, severe pain in the joints and muscles, especially the jaw, back, and knees, fatigue, and depression. I would be happy with anything that can help me even just a little…it would mean using the Vicodin that much less, even if it’s only one day less a week or something.

Anyone know? My doctor doesn’t know about alternative medicine and told me that the Vicodin is the best way to go if it makes it so I can function on a daily basis. I need help…I don’t want to be dependent on vicodin all my life.

I am only 24 and I am so worried of the long term effects of being on Vicodin.

Plese forgive if this question doesn’t make much sense. I am on Vicodin currently, and feeling a little light-headed and having trouble thinking today, so I don’t know if I’m making sense, but I want to ask about it now, while I am still able to think at all without pain.

Any suggestions or ideas?

Hi Jewel,

I’m sorry that you’re in so much pain. My problems are somewhat different to yours – I have a disease called Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) – but I too suffer from very severe neuropathic pain. I also get bad muscle and joint pain because of spasticity and contractures respectively. For my condition, a multidisciplinary approach is the best one.

If the oxycodone was helping your pain, it would be worthwhile talking to your doctor about Oxycontin. This is a controlled release form of oxycodone, usually taken twice a day. It releases the drug into your body much more slowly and gives much more steady pain relief than taking immediate release oxycodone tablets. Addiction should not be a problem in a well managed patient taking Oxycontin for severe chronic pain. Your body will develop a physical dependence over time and you would go through withdrawal were you to stop taking it suddenly but again this shouldn’t be an issue in someone taking it for chronic pain. As long as your dose is tapered slowly and carefully when the time comes for you to stop taking it, you shouldn’t have any problems.

However, opioids as a general rule are less effective against neuropathic pain than other types of pain. It would be worth asking your doctor about Lyrica (pregabalin). Lyrica is actually used mainly to treat epilepsy, but its value in treating neuropathic pain is well established. Other anti-convulsant and certain anti-depressant drugs are also useful and can mean a reduced dose of opioid or even no opioid at all is necessary.

My pain does not respond particularly well to medications, but I need them to take the edge off and make it possible for me to function. I have found that combination therapy is best for mine.I take oxycodone (both Oxycontin and immediate release when I have breakthrough pain), topiramate (an anti-convulsant) and meloxicam (an anti-inflammatory).

Are you seeing a pain management specialist? It’s well worth asking for a referral to one if you’re not already dealing with one. I’d also recommend a pain psychologist – they can give you an outlet to deal with your frustrations, but also help teach you various techniques and strategies to manage your pain.

I hope that gives you something to go on. You’re more than welcome to email me if you’ve any questions, or even if you’d just like to talk at any stage. I’m the same age as you and I know what hell it is to live in chronic pain, especially at our age.

Take care, and I hope you find something that works for you.

Question about birth weight, and health of babies born before 37 weeks.?

Posted by admin on Jan 29, 2010

OK so I am asking because I have had some complications come up with my blood pressure and was diagnosed with pregnancy induced hypertension today- it is very possible to turn into preeclampsia because my protein levels are above average however not enough to diagnose pre-e. in a 24 hr. urinalysis less than 150 is normal and anything more than 300 is mild preeclamsia- mine was 224

I will be 30 weeks on friday, I have been put on bed rest and weekly appointments as well as an ultrasound on friday to make sure that our little girl is developing as she should.

The Dr. told me that our goal right now is to get to 34-36 weeks and then they may induce depending on the situation with my blood pressure and the progress of preeclampsia. He also informed me that they will most likely not allow me to go all the way to my due date and would likely be induced by 38 weeks.

I am just trying to get information about premature birth- I would love everything to be natural but I am accepting things as they come and acknowledge that Dr.s are doing this for the safety of not only me but my baby as well.

So my questions are. . .
What week did you deliver in?
How much did the baby weigh?
How was the health- NICU Stay??
How long were both of you in the Hospital and did the baby get to go home with you?
what are the long term health issues you have had to deal with?

Thank you ahead of time:)

ps do you think there is a link between higher birth weight and less time spent in the hospital?

In case you don’t feel like reading everything I wrote, here’s the most important part–get "The Premature Baby Book" by Dr. Sears. It is a lifesaver.

–I delivered my son at 34 weeks.
–He weighed 4lbs, 12oz. The normal range at 34 weeks is 4 1/2 to 5 1/2 lbs, and boys tend to be slightly heavier.
–He was healthy in all ways, but didn’t yet have the suck-swallow-breathe reflex, which means he couldn’t breast (of bottle) feed. This tends to kick in around 36 weeks for boys, a couple weeks earlier for girls. Because of this, he had to be tube-fed (called ‘gavage’) and (painfully slowly) taught to eat. He was in the NICU for 13 days.
–I stayed in the hospital 3 days, so I had to go home w/o my baby. It was hard, but the next two weeks were the worst–leaving him each night in the care of others was so upsetting. I spent as much time as possible there.
–Long term, nothing major, but his development lags behind full-term babies, so even now at 13 months, I am CONSTANTLY explaining to people why he hits his milestones later than their child of the same age. People always think he’s younger than he is and it’s frustrtaing, cause some people act like there must be something wrong, or they try to make me feel better as if they think I must be upset that he’s behind. But he’s exacly where he should be–six weeks behind a full-term baby. I look forward to when he’s at an age where it’s no longer evident that he’s behind so I can stop explainng and getting questioned.

–During the first few months, preemies can be A LOT more demanding than the average baby. They sleep more, but it is in shorter spurts, so you will sleep very, very little. It’s hard to put into words the extreme sleep deprivation. I actually hallucinated at one point because of it. They can be crankier and gassier because their bodies aren’t really ready to be accepting milk yet. This can last many months (about 6 for us). Your baby will not be able to go out much, especially during the flu season in his/her first year, but also during the first 3 months you practically have to become a hermit. Since a full-term baby is supposed to stay inside and not among crowds until 6 weeks, it’s 6 weeks PLUS however many weeks your preemie was early. Every little thing can be a sign of something more serious with a preemie because they are more likely to come down with, well, just about everything, so even at seemingly-minor signs, you may have to take the baby to the ER. Your baby will need to be bundled up, including a hat, until they hit 7 lbs, and possibly will still have unusually low temp. readings that can be scary.
I’m not trying to scare you at all. Just prepare you. But on the other side, you and your preemie will have an intense bond because they need such close attention, monitoring, and care, and unlike full-ter babies, you get no 4 or 5 hours to sleep while they do. You will be with your baby all the time. I HIGHLY recomend you keep your preemie as close as possible. They thrive with ‘kangaroo care,’ meaning skin-to-skin contact, and the SIDS risk is higher with preemies, so you want them sleeping as close as safely possible (check into bedside co-sleepers, or at least keep him/her in a bassinet right beside you).

And one more thing–this is YOUR baby. NICU nurses can be possesive. If you see ANYTHING that makes you uncomfortable, like a nurse handling or bathing your baby in a way you feel is not gentle enough, SPEAK UP. You can, for example, say you don’t want anyone but you and the baby’s father to bathe him/her. You will forever regret it if you don’t speak up.

Had a natural miscarriage & period has decreased over the months to not having one at all?

Posted by admin on Jan 25, 2010

Back in August I had a natural miscarriage at 8 weeks. It was a blighted ovum. I bled for a week and then 2 weeks later I had my period and bled for 4 days(I usually bleed 6-7 days). 30 days passed before I got my next period and this time I only bled for 3 days. Then 35 days passed before I got my period again and this time I bled for about 5 days but it was light(usually it’s moderate to heavy bleeding). And now, it’s been well over a month and a half and still no period. I’ve taken a pregnancy test last week and one today and they both were negative. I’m worried that something is wrong or that my period is just all out of whack now after the miscarriage.

Just a little background. I use to have PCOS(Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) and my period was very irregular… as a teen it was every other month after a course of 5-6 years it was twice a year. After I had my first child my period became very regular, same thing after I had my second child. Because I had PCOS it took me 5 years to conceive. I would like to have a couple of more kids but am afraid that maybe somethings wrong since my period seems to be getting worse and worse. I don’t have health insurance until Feb, so I can’t schedule and appointment with my OB yet. Can someone help me out. Every post or blog I’ve seen they usually say that there period become regular by the 3rd to 5th month after having a miscarriage… So why is it that it seems to be that my period is getting worse and worse… My worst fear is that I won’t be able to conceive anymore.

1 second ago – 4 days left to answer.

First, there is no *cure* for PCOS. It’s chronic, which means once you have it, you have it…but sometimes it’s under control more times than others.

It sounds to me like this last pregnancy triggered your PCOS symptoms again. What you’re describing smacks very loud of a hormone imbalance.

The only thing you can do is wait it out until February and then get the hormones you’ll need to jumpstart your cycles again.

You may or may not need medical intervention to conceive in the future. But either way, there’s no reason to believe you won’t ever conceive again.

Good luck.

I smell natural gas – help!!?

Posted by admin on Jan 22, 2010

Well my heat in my apartment wasn’t working so yesterday I called maintnence & they came and lit the pilot light… Voula it worked! Then I was real busy today and had the heat turned off, noone other than my cat was here. I came home after being gone all day and it reaked like natural gas, yet the pilot light was still lit. Now it’s past midnight and I’ve just turned the heat back on to get some air circulation, the smell seems less; but maybe I’m just getting used to it or something… It’s really late so I would hate to call someone at these hours and bug them if it’s not a big issue… Does anyone know what causes this and if it’s normal? It’s the firs time heat has been used in a year so maybe that’s it?? And like I said the pilot is still lit so I’m not worried about an explosion or anything, but could smelling this stuff alone be harmful to me & my health?

turn everything in ur house off and then hire prof help

does natural bipolar treatment work ?wait am i even bipolar?

Posted by admin on Jan 10, 2010

Ok, so heres the deal.
my psyciatrist lets just call him dr.quack cuz thats basically what he is, youll read why.
he says im bipolar when i first come to see him. now my counselor is ending my counseling and she says dr.quack doesnt have me listed as bipolar… if not then why the hell am i on the meds for it?!?! and then shes all like… well ill have to check.

ok this is why he thinks im bipolar… i have a bad attitute problem (i was a very spoiled brat when i was a kid >.> and still am <.< also i have a bad anger problem <stupid people make me angry> (theres many of them around here) and when i get constantly harassed and put down like no other yeah im gonna feel like crap and worthless, and i dont get happy often so when i do get happy i get hyper.

Now my dr put my on depression pills at first >.> when you give a bipolar person depression pills they get more depressed. needless to say i had a really really hard day and i cut my self, i went to the hospital. then my dr told me how stupid i am WELL WTF you put me on crap pills for the diagnosis you gave me.. when he first evaluated me he said i had sever social anxiety order as well but like 2 months later i tried to get into a program that would give me hope for an education (homeschooling) he told my mum not do do it because i didnt have S.A.D ok so hes flipping all my diagnosis’s around… if today im supposedly not bipolar, S.A.D why am i on a anti depressent (makes me more depressed) S.A.D meds ANNNND ehm im not sure how to spell this schizophrenia. im not getting this… if i am bipolar what works for it… and i mean NATURAL hearbs and stuff taken on a daily basis, because i do not like having to consult every 6 months with a man who can barely speak english or make a descision about my mental health!! that and i dont like the things man made drugs are doing to me. so if you know any herbal meds or supplements, strange teas or weird bath salt crap. any ways. dont judge me for what ive said the typos ive made..

BOTTOM LINE I WANT ADVICE NOT PEOPLE GOING OFF ON ME BECAUSE OF WHAT I THINK…IF YOU DONT HAVE ANY THING NICE OR SOMETHING NOT RUDE TO SAY KEEP IT TO YOUR DA** SELF I WANT HELP NOT A LECTURE!!!!

thank you… for those you are the helping type dont mind the above message im just sick of people syaing mean judgmental or just plain stupid things in response to my questions…

thank you for reading this, have a nice day and double thank you for those who can help =^.^=

Hey buddy, i’m so sorry you’re on this toxic sludge …….. it sounds to me like you are suffering from an intolerant reaction to the meds they have you on mate …….. change physicians ….. get an appointment with a naturopath or nutritionally oriented physician so that you can be fully assessed and the anxiety and stress and brain frizz can be resolved from the source.

In the meantime eat more foods rich in calcium and magnesium such as fresh fish …. not the tinned variety …… fish is surely brilliant for healthy neural and heart functioning and for bolstering your immunity levels ……. leafy and green vegies too ….. i just love the green vegies mate …. way easier to digset too …… leafy and green vegies ….. broccolli, kale, chard, buk choy, collard greens, celery ………… rich in both calcium and magnesium.

Without sufficient calcium you will suffer insomnia, headaches and migraines, irritability and moodiness, terrible terrible mood swings and brain chatter and brain frizz, achy bones, digestive upsets such as bloating and cramping and constipation, even horrible violent dreams …… calcium is essential for healthy bones, teeth and heart health and works in tandem with magnesium (known as the antistress mineral)…… lack of magnesium will give you migraines and headaches, nervous and twitching and muscular issues and will also cause lower back aches and bad digestion ……. and contribute to high blood pressure ….. increasing your daily intake of foods rich in both such as leafy and green vegies, brocolli, kale, spinach, fresh fish such as tuna and salmon and organic nuts and seeds such as almonds, brazil nuts and sunflower seeds will dramatically increase your feeling of well being and peace of mind.

Eat more green vegies mate, another thing they’ll do is encourage the production of hydrochloric acid in your tummy and help resolve any issues you may have with constipation and bloating.

Get 10 – 15 mins daily of safe sun exposure too …….. everything hinges on sufficient supplies of vitamin D in your body …….. if you can’t do that take a homepathic vitamin D3 liquid supplement …… go to your local health food store or herbal dispensary and ask for their guidance as to which vitamin D3 drops would be the easiest for your body to assimilate …… pharmaceutical grade or practitioner only quality are the best you can buy…… calcium relies on vitamin D for effective assimilation.

A little extra effort sure but anything worth having is worth the extra effort ….. i reckon calmness and peace of mind is worth a few bowls of green vegies a day.

believe it mate, i’ve been where you are now ……. they misdiagnosed me with bipolar / schizophrenia years ago and near fried my brain before i had my epiphany …… that i felt the worst i ever had in my life ….. they had me on vast amounts of Effexor, Xyprexia, valium …. gaaah, toxic sludge all of it ….. i got reassessed and detoxed off the meds and went to a naturopath who diagnosed me with coeliac (intolerance to barley oats wheat and rye) and lactose intolerance (intolerance to milk and dairy) and severe soy intolerance and processed sugar ….. i went into denial for about 12 months and then finally i gradually started to sift slowly through eliminating the foods and chemicals that were making me soooo sick ……… please consider getting a reassessment from a naturopath.

oh, drink loads of water too and try to cut right back on the caffeine, sodas, pop and soft drinks and alcohol if you drink any cos they’ll all dehydrate you terribly and rob you of your precious B complex of vitamins …… processed sugar will also rob you of your B complex and deplete calcium stores and stress your system.

take care of you

peace baby

Do thinner girls today realize that?

Posted by admin on Jan 5, 2010

Our idea of a healthy weight is not normal? I have been doing research and found that most women in the 18 and 1900’s were today’s equivalent of a size 10. Medical studies show that fat accumulation in the hips and breasts are there to prepare the body for child bearing. I am not one to support an unhealthy lifestyle (such as eating fast food three times a day and not getting enough exercise) but I also don’t believe that it is natural for everyone to be held to one weight standard.

I spoke with my doctor about the BMI index and she told me that it was not a good indicator of health because it was too generalized. She actually recommended the skin caliper test or waist-to-hip ratio as a means to really determine someone’s health.

Sometimes I wonder how thinner girls would react if our society viewed heavier women as attractive and skinny as unnattractive.

What are your views on this?

Size 10 is a perfectly good size even in our culture. If you are talking about our ideal shape, I’m afraid that television has strongly affected the way people think they have to look. Everyone looks heavier on TV.

Men still like a bit of meat on the bones. Ask around! Most of them would like a nice size 10. Or even 12.

You’re right about the gym rat/ BMI/ sixpack abs bunch. But different strokes for different folks. The anorexia/bulimia epidemic probably existed before the media attention, but in those days it was called asceticism and was associated with sainthood.

BAN DHMO TODAY!! (Funny?)?

Posted by admin on Dec 31, 2009

Dihydrogen monoxide (DHMO) is colorless, odorless, tasteless, and sickens over 4 billion and kills over 2 million people every year (United Nations World Health Organization, 2008: www.WHO.Int). Most of these deaths are caused by accidental inhalation of DHMO, but the dangers of dihydrogen monoxide do not end there. Prolonged exposure to its solid form causes severe tissue damage. Symptoms of DHMO ingestion can include excessive sweating and urination, and possibly a bloated feeling, nausea, vomiting and body electrolyte imbalance. For those who have become dependent, DHMO withdrawal means certain death.

Dihydrogen monoxide:

* is also known as hydroxyl acid, and is the major component of acid rain.
* contributes to the "greenhouse effect."
* may cause severe burns.
* contributes to the erosion of our natural landscape.
* accelerates corrosion and rusting of many metals.
* may cause electrical failures and decreased effectiveness of automobile brakes.
* has been found in excised tumors of terminal cancer patients.
* contamination has been found in all floodwaters where death has occurred and violent thunderstorm rains containing destructive lightning.
* changing from crystalline to liquid is a leading cause of the destruction of arctic ice and glaciers.

Contamination Is Reaching Epidemic Proportions!
Quantities of dihydrogen monoxide have been found in almost every stream, lake, and reservoir in America today. But the pollution is global, and the contaminant has even been found in Antarctic ice. DHMO has caused millions of dollars of property damage in the midwest, and recently California. DHMO contamination is even found in most cells in the human body!
Despite the danger, dihydrogen monoxide is often used:

* as an industrial solvent and coolant.
* in nuclear power plants.
* in the production of styrofoam.
* as a fire retardant.
* in many forms of cruel animal research.
* in the distribution of pesticides. Even after washing, produce remains contaminated by this chemical.
* as an additive in certain "junk-foods" and other food products.
* to dissolve medicines before giving them to children and older adults.

Companies dump waste DHMO into rivers and the ocean, and nothing can be done to stop them because this practice is still legal. The impact on wildlife is extreme, and we cannot afford to ignore it any longer!
The Horror Must Be Stopped!
The American government has refused to ban the production, distribution, or use of this damaging chemical due to its "importance to the economic health of this nation." In fact, the Navy and other military organizations are conducting experiments with DHMO, and designing multi-billion dollar devices to control and utilize it during warfare situations. Hundreds of military research facilities receive millions of tons of pure DHMO through a highly sophisticated underground distribution network daily. Many facilities store large quantities for later use. Many municipalities also have DHMO storage facilities.

YES!! DIHYDROGEN MONOXIDE IS ONE OF THE MOST DANGEROUS ELEMENTS IN THE WORLD!!!! WE SHOULD ALL QUIT DRINKING WATER!!!

a kid actually wrote this and won a science fair with it before anyone realized he was talking about water

Funny a little, but educational alot. Good job!

natural remedies for a dry cough?

Posted by admin on Dec 27, 2009

I have a had a slight sore throat off and on for about a month and in the past 2 or 3 days ive had a slight dry cough. i would cough maybe 3 times a day, today it is at its worst. It is VERY annoying and sometimes hurts a little. I have no health insurance and I am pretty much flat broke I am all bout natural healing I dont like taking medication if i dont have to. does anyone have suggestions? i have been drinking lemon tea with honey but it doesnt help much the irritation is in my upper resp. it isnt an infection i have no mucus at all.

thanks in advance! :D
so i slept with my mouth closed and slept very well, i had tea with honey right before bed. as soon as i get up im having what feels like a cough attack! i have some mucus in my chest (very little) and a even less in my nose. no fever still and my body doesnt hurt but it feels very tired. Thanks for the great tips everyone!

Any natural tea that you enjoy laced with honey. I like an elderberry-echinacea tea with orange blossom honey made extra strong. You boil the water, pour it over two tea bags in a large mug and cover. Let it sit for at least 15 minutes before you remove the bags and squeeze every last drop out. Sweeten to taste with honey and drink just before bedtime.

I get a dry throat when the room is dry. A humidifier is nice, but sitting in your bathroom after a hot shower for a half an hour is great. Make sure you aren’t sleeping with your mouth open and there aren’t any drafts that hit your face directly.

Should America permit the FDA to ban all herbs, supplements and natural healing aids?

Posted by admin on Dec 23, 2009

The American FDA plans to pass a new regulation giving them unlimited control over all natural, organic and holistic healing products and practices. This document is called “Docket No. 2006D-0480. Draft Guidance for Industry on Complementary and Alternative Medicine Products and Their Regulation by the Food and Drug Administration.”
Given their attitude towards all such health options, it is likely that many, if not all, of the effective and inexpensive holistic alternatives available today would be literally forced off the market. This plan is not only intrusive, but also ridiculous- if the law is passed, vegetable juice would be considered a “drug”! Bottled water to treat “dehydration” would be a “drug”! Everything from massage oil, yoga mats, and simple green tea would almost certainly be outlawed or unfairly policed.
Is this acceptable to us, the public? We alone have the ability to stop this regulation from becoming reality in a matter of weeks- the FDA accepts petitions and complaints only until April 30- then it is LAW.
If you care about this affront to our freedom as consumers, please make your voice heard and ACT NOW! Also, you can read the full story here:

Greenthought,
This is a guidance document only, not new regulations.
This guidance document does not change anything. If you make disease claims for carrot juice, then it is subject to regulation as a drug. This is true right now, without this guidance document. If you make no disease claims, then you are OK.(Credit given to Michael Donaldson Ellensburg, WA USA)

I sent the FDA this comment anyway:
Regarding Docket No 2006D-0480 I completely oppose the FDA’s never ending attempts to reclassify vitamins, supplements, herbs and even foods so that you can regulate them. The informed public sees this as just another step in appeasing the pharmaceutical industry & their efforts to increase their profits by promoting a never ending list of deadly allopathic drugs under the guise of promoters of good health. http://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/oc/dockets/comments/commentsmain.cfm?EC_DOCUMENT_ID=1451&SUBTYP=NEXT&CID=&AGENCY=FDA
